University Accounting Certification Series – This training offered by the University Controller’s Office is designed to provide answers, suggestions and knowledge related to NC State University accounting policies and procedures. The course is directed at persons that are involved with either directing operations or ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. This training includes general discussion on the accounting system and internal controls. New initiatives offered by the Controller’s Office will be presented as well as emerging initiatives.

the appropriate budgeting processes for appropriated funds, appropriated receipts and
auxiliary trust funds. Included will be
reporting tools available for resource analysis, position control management, the budget
revision process, and mandated reports required by all state agencies. |

| Purchasing A basic understanding of the statutes regulating procurement at NC State. When and how to enter a purchase requisition, how to edit a Purchase Requisition, understanding the vendor file, researching building locations, checking requisition status. Understanding your worklist. PLUS, Approving a requisition, how and when to enter a receiving report, checking status of requisitions and Purchase Orders, how to request a change order, how to change fund distributions and how to liquidate a Purchase Order. | |
| Financials Reporting: Basic Query and WOLF Reports - A basic understanding of the relational database structure; private versus public queries; how to run queries with results to the Financials System and to Excel; and how to change fields and criteria in an existing query and save it as a private query. PLUS - Overview of the web WOLF reports. Using WOLF to view and save as Excel files, daily account status and transaction information. | |
