How to Initiate a New Query
- Click on the BrioQuery icon to start the application and begin a new query.
To start a new query after closing a previous query, select the File/New option from the menu bar.
- Begin by selecting the DataModel/Select Open Catalog option from the menu bar.
The Open Catalog Extension (OCE) panel will then display the pre-defined OCE's available for query.
- Select the correct OCE, for the database(s) to be used in the query, and click OK.
- Then, enter the Sybase user ID and password and click OK.
- Next, select the DataModel/Table Catalog option from the menu bar.
The Table Catalog panel will be displayed.
- Select the views(s) to be used in the query and drag them to the Query panel.
If more than one view is required for the query, drag the field to be joined from the first table ('parent') to the other table
('child') which has the same field to be joined. A connection line will automatically be displayed.
- Finally, select the fields to be included in the query and drag them to the Request line in the Query panel.
- If needed, select the fields which require conditional limits in the query and drag them to the Limit line in the Query
panel. Then, enter the field selection conditions in the Limit panel and click OK.
- When all the fields have been included and all the limits defined, press the Process button to execute the query.
- To view the results of the query, select the Result tab along the bottom of the panel. Also use the Pivot1, Detail1, and
Chart1 tabs to format the results into the required pivot table, detail report, and chart.

until they are correct. The query file will be then be displayed in the panel.
- Select the BrioQuery file (*.bqy) you want to run and click OK.
- BrioQuery will load the query parameters.

results.
