CAMS
is an abbreviation for Capital Asset Management
System. CAMS is a database designed to track all NCSU capital
assets from the time they are purchased until they are disposed of.
The CAMS department is part of the University Controllers office,
located in the Administrative Services Center.
What does the CAMS department do?
We identify items purchased by each
department and determine if they need to be tracked with a numbered
sticker (tag). These tagged assets are then entered into and tracked
in our database.
How does CAMS get its information?
We get our information from the NCSU accounting system. Since
we rely on the information entered into the accounting system
to be correct, it is critical that your department assign equipment
costs to the proper general ledger accounts.
