Credit Card Procedures


NC State University Merchant Service - Fast Facts for New Service Requests

Capture Options:

Currently, NC State has two options available for merchant service access:

  1. Standard credit card terminal access.
  2. Yahoo storefront via internet.

Standard credit card terminal access should be used primarily for walk up POS (point of sale) business. Yahoo storefront is an internet based capture resource best used as a solution for short term needs, i.e. seminars, memberships, etc.

Rates/Costs:


The Master Service Agreement (MSA) offers Mastercard, VISA, & American Express at state contracted rates. Current MSA contract rates are listed below:

In addition to the rates listed above, the following charges may be applied:

  1. Credit card terminal rental/lease fees $10.50 - $24.94. (Existing terminals remain under the current pricing structure.)
  2. Monthly cost of a dedicated analog phone line for terminal only.
  3. Monthly Yahoo store Front fee $39.95/month plus $1.5% transaction fee. Set up fee is $50.00 for storefront to be set up by department's technical support. All Yahoo fees must be paid for via credit card or purchase card.
  4. Monthly Nelnet hosting fee $54/month plus $.28 transaction fee. Set up fee varies by website project. Fees are invoiced to project designated on request form.

How to:

    1. Acquire receipt center status.
    2. Review the Campus Merchant Service Application procedure and Campus Credit Card Reimbursement policy documents.
    3. Complete the Request for Credit Card Outlet Authorization form.
    4. Forward to Amanda Richardson or Sean Cather for processing.
    5. Once authorization is approved by OSC and a merchant number is assigned, you will be contacted to complete the set up process either by installing a credit card machine or constructing a Yahoo storefront.
