Pre-College Campus Visits
The Office of Pre-College Programs offers a visitation program for middle and high school students from schools, churches, and community organizations that serve pre-college youth. The purpose of the visits is to expose students to the opportunities at NC State, support their preparation for college enrollment, and encourage them to pursue academic excellence. The Office of Pre-College Programs primarily hosts visits for college access programs that serve students who are low-income or the first in their families to go to college such as Upward Bound, GEAR-UP, and AVID.
Each campus visitation will include a welcome, information about pre-college programs, an introductory presentation on preparing for and transitioning to college, and small group counseling sessions facilitated by NC State students and staff. The visiting groups will eat lunch in a campus dining hall and take a guided campus tour. Visitations can be scheduled during the academic year, September through April. Groups of up to 60 students can be accommodated.
The theme for the 2008/09 pre-college visitation program is "Exploring STEM Majors."
