NC State University 2009 Awards for Excellence Winners
NC State University 2008 Awards for Excellence Winners
NC State University 2007 Awards for Excellence Winners
The University Awards for Excellence program recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of permanent NC State employees at both the unit and University levels who do not hold faculty rank.
Annually, the 18 University units/colleges collectively select 48 employees to recognize as award recipients for the respective units. Campus units submit their unit award recipients to the University Award for Excellence selection committee to determine the 5 University-level winners (4 SPA and 1 EPA). Human Resources then submits these 5 University-level winners to the NC Office of State Personnel for consideration in the Governor's Awards for Excellence program.
Note: Overall, 30 SPA and 18 EPA employees will be recognized from the 18 University units/colleges. The number of awards granted to each unit/college depends upon the number of personnel in each college/unit.
The five criteria for which permanent NC State SPA or EPA non-faculty employee may be nominated:
- Outstanding Service - Exhibited unselfish devotion to duty, far and above normal requirements
- Innovations - Initiated fruitful study and investigation or has successfully established new and outstanding methods, practices, plans or designs (such as pioneering or research and development work in administration, engineering, productivity, agriculture, medicine, natural resources, the social sciences, etc.)
- Public Service - Made outstanding contributions by participating in or by implementing community and public service projects (such as volunteering with various non-profit organizations)
- Safety/Heroism -Demonstrated outstanding judgment or courage in an emergency; or meritorious action or service to prevent injury, loss of life or prevent damage to or loss of property.
- Human Relations - Made outstanding contributions toward enhancing the quality and morale of the workplace.
Please use the nomination form to recognize a colleague. Any permanent NC State SPA or EPA non-faculty employee may be nominated in one or more criteria areas. Nominees should have made major contributions reflecting credit on themselves and NC State service. The services or accomplishments must be so outstanding that special recognition is justified.
The deadlines vary by unit/college. Ask your College/Unit coordinator about your specific college/unit deadline.
Award
All 48 college/unit winners receive from their college/unit $250 and 8 hours of paid leave.
