- NCFlex Group Term Life allows you to purchase term life insurance with pre-tax dollars.
- MetLife Group Term Life is sponsored by the University and allows for continued coverage once you retire.
- NCFlex Accidental Death and Dismemberment pays a benefit in the case of accidental death, dismemberment, and certain injuries, even if you are already covered by other insurance plans.
- The State Death Benefits program allows the beneficiary/beneficiaries of an NC State employee to receive a "death benefit" payment if the employee dies while in active service.
Asset Protection
Long-Term Care
The State Health Plan (SHP) has contracted with Prudential Insurance as the long-term care provider for state employees. Long-term care is extended care you would receive at home, in an assisted living or nursing facility, adult day care or hospice. The Prudential Plan Summary provides details on coverage and enrollment for NC State employees as well as spouses, parents (in-laws), grandparents (in-laws), children age 18 and older who may enroll with the completion of evidence of insurability. The Prudential Long Term Care Website provides rate quotes and online enrollment.
