Self-Referrals

Employees and their dependents have unlimited opportunities for self-referrals to Deer Oaks. These services are available via a toll-free phone number 1-877-EAP-SOLV (1-877-327-7658).

The initial assessment may begin with a telephone call from the employee to Deer Oaks, and may be completed either on the telephone or face-to-face, based on the employee's choice. The phone call is structured to determine the participant's immediate needs and determine the best resources for the participant. Care coordinators and clinicians are trained in procedures for immediate risk and crisis situations, as well.

If a participant is in need of counseling, a referral is made to a local resource, preferably within the participant's health plan. Callers in need of legal resources are immediately provided online educational legal resources, as well as referrals to discounted legal services from in-plan attorneys. The telephone care coordinator will work with the participant to reduce anxiety as necessary, and will follow up with the participant after any referrals are made.

Employees and their dependents are responsible for the cost of referred services. Every effort is made at cost-containment; whenever possible, Deer Oaks refers participants to providers who are affiliated with the employee's health care insurance plan. Participants without health insurance are referred to affordable community services.

All assessments are confidential, along with participants' medical records.
