Section One
- The employee needs to fill out Section 1 completely, using ink.
- It is very important that the employee marks the citizenship box on the I-9 form.
- If the employee indicates on the form that he or she is a lawful permanent resident or an alien authorized to work, the employee will need to fill in the correct information in the corresponding lines.
- Be sure the employee signs and dates Section 1.
- The preparer/translator certification sections should only be completed if the employee is physically unable to complete Section 1.
