NC State Bookstores is the official bookstore serving North Carolina State University. The bookstore operates for the convenience of NC State University students, faculty, administration, staff and campus visitors. All monies generated through the bookstore are returned to the University for need-based financial aid programs. The main bookstore is located next-door to the Talley Student Center on main campus.

We encourage you to sign up for our electronic newsletter. The newsletter is sent out several times throughout the semester and alerts our subscribers to upcoming events, unadvertised sales, and important textbook ordering and buyback deadlines. We also have a random drawing and give out great prizes each time we send out the newsletter. To sign up for your chance to win, click here.
Textbooks:
Located on the lower level of the main store, our Textbook Department stocks all of the textbooks used at NC State University. Unlike other textbook resellers, we order only what your professors have requested. When you purchase your textbooks from NC State Bookstores, you can be confident that the books you get are only those that your professor has chosen for you.
Online Textbook Ordering:
Textbooks can be ordered on-line and either held at the bookstore for pick up or shipped to your door via UPS. In most cases, orders will be filled within 24 hours. Ordering is always quick and easy. Once an order is placed, your textbooks are pulled from the textbook sales floor at NC State Bookstores packaged and held for pickup. Prior to the beginning of the semester, we will hold completed textbook orders for up to 8 weeks, so no special trips are needed to pick up the books. Ordering early is the best way to assure a greater selection of used textbooks since online orders are pulled immediately upon receipt. To order your textbooks online, click here.
Used Books and Book Buyback:
We offer a huge selection of “used” textbooks. Most of our used books are purchased from NC State students at the end of each semester at our “book buyback” counters. We set the price of used textbooks at 25% off the price of the same new textbook. We will not buy back textbooks with missing study aids or other missing pieces. As soon as the faculty tells us which books they will use during the upcoming semester, we will begin to pay one half of the current new price for the books you bring in to sell to us. Once we reach the determined need for the semester, we begin paying the current price that a wholesale company will pay the bookstore for the book at a rate that varies depending on demand. If a textbook is being used in the upcoming semester, we will attempt to fulfill our inventory with used textbooks at buyback. After the last day of final exams, we will order any remaining quantity that is still needed from publishing companies and national wholesalers. Our buyback desk is open year round; however, the best time to sell back textbooks is during finals week.
Guaranteed Buyback:
In an effort to save our students money on their textbooks, NC State Bookstores is proud to announce the “Guaranteed Buyback” program. Simply look for textbooks with the “Guaranteed Buyback” label and at the end of the semester guarantee paying you 50% of the retail price of the new textbook.
Computers & Supplies:
Located on the upper level, the Computer Connections department offers a wide variety of hardware, software and peripherals. Most items are available at educationally discounted prices. All that is required to shop with us is a current faculty, staff or student photo ID. We offer hardware from Apple, IBM/Lenovo, Dell, Gateway and Hewlett Packard. All of NC State Bookstores' personal computer systems can be configured to meet the University's computer hardware purchasing recommendations. For more information, click here.
