Project Manager
Acquiring your core team...

You will need to meet with the functional managers of each Area/Unit within RMIS to preplan and secure your core team's involvement. Some negotiation will be needed as we exist within a matrix organization structure and it is rare when people are solely dedicated to projects without production work requirements.
Part of what you will need to discuss to gain your core team is the following information. It should look familar as it is the same as you composed in the previous exercise.

  • Phase #
  • Skill Sets
  • Skill Levels
  • Functional Area
  • Time Frame Requirement (start date and duration)
Securing Resources
  • It is advisable that you gain a signed committment to supplying the personnel or resources you need. That agreement should have information similar to the following:
    • Person and skill set
    • Time frame needed (ex: March to end of April)
    • Role within the project (ex: Team Lead, tech, designer, etc)
    • Responsibility
    • Contingency or fall back person
    • Agreed upon date
Depending upon the size and complexity of your project, you may wish to involve rolling wave planning or the ability to plan the next phase of your project while working on the current phase. This will ensure the current outcomes are incorporated to alter the next phase as needed.
