Volunteer Position Title: Research Assistant

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: This office provides support and information to crime victims across NC and to advocate for their fair treatment. There are two major times that we need volunteers: at the State Fair, in late October to man a booth and in August for the NC Victim Assistance's annual conference. .

Volunteer Position Title: Intern

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: SAF will select 30 students from across the country and place them in farmworker organizations throughout the Carolinas.  Placements include rural health clinics, migrant education programs, legal & labor organizing groups.  Interns work directly with farmworkers to improve living and working conditions, and access to community resources.

Volunteer Position Title: Outreach Witness

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: Volunteers are needed to accompany outreach teams from the Farmworker Unit of Legal Services of North Carolina to visit migrant farmworkers in their homes (labor camps).
Migrant farmworkers suffer many injustices such as poor living conditions, pesticide violations and unfair labor practices. Volunteers will bear witness to the plight of migrant farmworkers and spread awareness about farmworker issues in their community.  

What are the time requirements and or special skills needed for this position: Spanish not required but helpful.  Hours: one to two evenings a month, 6 - 10 p.m., Monday-Thursday, April-November.
