Alternative

March 5 - 12, 2004
The Alternative Spring Break Service-Learning program has been in existence since 1999; students, faculty, and staff at North Carolina State University have traveled to Arizona, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Honduras. During spring break, the groups have partnered with Habitat for Humanity International, global village to build houses with the poor and participate in a cultural exchange with the locals. This year, another group traveled to Phoeniz to serve as tutors for students on the Navajo reservation. These experiences have proven to be life changing for the participants and provide an opportunity to reflect on the proviledges that we have, while helping those in need
Approximate cost of the internations trips will be $1600, the domestic trips will be $700 and will cover all expenses. Fund-raising opportunities will be available. A limited number of student team leader positions will be available.
Applicants should have had previous international travel experience, great organizational
and interpersonal skills, and a desire to serve others. For more information, see the Student
