Volunteers under 18 must have a parent signature on the release form which all volunteers (regardless of age) must sign. Most volunteers come at 9:30 on Saturday mornings and work in teams, but volunteers are welcome at any time.

Volunteer Position Title: Mascots, Exhibit Staff, Office Helpers, etc.
Description of duties and/or responsibilities: College students might especially be interested in serving as the "Make Trash Extinct Dinosaur" mascot at presentations for young children. Student would not have to make the presentation him/herself; staff would do the actual speaking. Volunteers are also needed to staff "Keep America Beautiful" exhibits at malls and other public places. Roadside clean-up and illegal dump clean-up opportunities are also available for group service projects. Contact Ms. Nixon for details. Note that office assistance can always be used as well. THANKS

Volunteer Position Title: Open New African Facilities and volunteer at the Chimpanzee Exhibit; Exhibit Interpreter/Smart Cart Docent, Gardner, Farmer, Library Aide, Zoo Host, Animal watch, Browse Gardner, Special Events, Neonatal Care.
Description of duties and/or responsibilities: Provide informal programs at education stations, use the Zoo's living collection to increase visitor awareness, assist with planting, maintaining, harvesting and interpreting the plant collection, conduct informal educational programs about domestic animals and agriculture, library duties, assist visitors by providing information about Zoo facilities, observe and record behaviors of specific animals and conduct surveys, maintain and harvest plants for consumption by animals, assist with promotional events, care for infant animals when necessary.
