Volunteer Position Title: Lending Library Assistant, Corporate Seminar Clerical Assistant, Various seasonal opportunities. Internships are also available, especially for students in education, library science, nutrition, sociology, psychology, or any child care-related field.

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: Program Update and Evaluation Assistants participate in various projects for both parent and provider services, including telephone follow-ups with parents, data entry, updating provider information and calling child care centers and substitutes to update and verify hours worked. These calls can be made in the evenings from the volunteer's home. Lending Library Assistants maintain inventories, assist providers in the Lending Library, design displays.  Help is especially needed in organizing our library; volunteers with knowledge of library organization (or an interest in gaining this knowledge) are particularly needed.   Corporate Seminar Clerical Assistants prepare handout packets for corporate seminars, tabulate evaluations following each seminar and prepare mailing of evaluation results for sponsors.

What are the time requirements and or special skills needed for this position: Hours are flexible. Volunteers should have good telephone skills, pay strong attention to detail and have good organizational skills. Computer knowledge is helpful, but not required.

Also: We need assistance setting up our new library software program, i.e. library system, inventory, data entry etc...  This would be a perfect opportunity for a student in the Library Science curriculum who wanted to have a start-up project for their resume'.

Volunteer Position Title: Office Volunteers, Event Volunteers, Program Volunteers

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: We need one-time volunteers in September, April and for the Bike Tour.

Office volunteers are needed for a variety of clerical work such as folding, labeling and sorting mailings as well as completing data-entry assignments and answering the telephone.

Event volunteers are essential at fundraisers such as the MS Walk and the MS 150 Bike Tour. Jobs include registration, manning rest stops, support and gear (SAG) and medical.

Program volunteers assist with registration, greeting and other duties at various MS events. Long-term facility visitors are also needed to visit younger and older adults on a monthly basis, or to be TeleFriends, a phone check-in program.

Volunteer Position Title: TEAMing for TECHnology

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: Train staff of non-profit agencies in web browsing, internet research, desktop publishing, word processing, database and spreadsheet use, accounting machine maintenance, website design, etc.  Volunteers can also work with our Computer Recycling project, where we recycle old computers and donate them to local non-profit organizations.  Volunteers are also needed to assist with networking computer labs in the community.
