Since our founding in 1887, NC State University has been a community of achievers.  It's our rallying cry, driven by a passion for results.  Our academic strengths are historic, our ideals bound by NC State's mission: to create an innovative learning environment that stresses intellectual discipline, creativity, problem solving, and responsibility.

NC State offers thousands of courses and 90 bachelor's degree programs, as well as dual-degree programs that allow you to combine varied academic interests and increase your career options.  Courses are also available through a consortium of area colleges.

We're one of the nation's foremost research universities, and ranked fourth in the nation for corporate research.  We also offer the most comprehensive design program in the Southeast; strong pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-law, and pre-vet programs; a physics program ranked among the nation's best; and a pulp and paper program ranked first by industry CEOs.

And we're dedicated to providing a personalized learning environment.  At NC State, the student-to-faculty ratio is 14:1, while the average class size is 35.

We're glad you're interested in what we have to offer.  You'll find more information about NC State on the Admissions and NC State homepages.

Note: if you attended college after graduation from high school (or after earning the GED) then you are considered a transfer applicant. If you were ever previously enrolled as a degree student at NC State you should contact Registration and Records about readmission.

A note for international applicants: people who are neither U.S. citizens nor U.S. Permanent Residents must meet the requirements and deadlines for undergraduate international applicants and apply using the International Application for Undergraduate Admission
